What Codekin does with your data
Last updated October 9, 2026
Codekin is a game. It has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and it doesn't send anything to servers of its own.
The camera
The game uses the camera to find QR codes and to show Codekin, its creatures, in augmented reality. Camera images are processed on your iPhone and never leave it. They aren't saved.
The codes you scan
When you scan a code, the game turns what it says (a web address, Wi-Fi details, a phone number and so on) into a one-way fingerprint on your device and uses that to decide which Codekin lives there. Only the fingerprint is saved, never the code's contents, and it isn't sent anywhere except as part of your own iCloud backup.
Your save
Your progress (trainer name, Codekin, items, coins and which codes you've visited, as fingerprints) is saved on your iPhone. If iCloud backup is on in the game's settings, the save is also stored in your own iCloud account through Apple's iCloud, so it can be restored on another device. You can turn this off at any time.
Game Center
If you're signed in to Game Center, the game reports achievements and leaderboard scores to Apple's Game Center and shows your friends' standings. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Playing with a friend nearby
Face-to-face battles and trades connect directly to the other phone over your local network or Bluetooth, using Apple's peer-to-peer networking. Only what the game needs (your team's Codekin and moves, the Codekin being traded, and your trainer name) is sent, only to that phone, and only while you're playing together.
Purchases
Coin packs are bought through the App Store. Apple handles payment; the game only learns that a purchase went through so it can add the coins.
Children
Codekin doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Support emails
If you email for support, your message and address are used only to reply to you.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
